I absolutely love wedding decor! Whether it be in the reception hall or all of the pretty little details a bride puts together with so much heart and sentiment, I love to photograph it all!
I am a natural light photographer, but that being said, I also will incorporate off camera flash, reflectors or anything that I need to substitute great light when it is not available naturally.
Once I enter the reception hall I first look for what type of light is coming into the hall. Even if the venue is outside, by dusk we will always incorporate two off camera flashes. We want to balance the light perfectly so that is the reason I choose two. One on the back side to create a backlit situation and one in the foreground to brighten up my subject.
It is also important to photograph all the pretty details on the table scape. For this type of lighting situation I try to create a natural type of lighting so I bring the off camera flash very close to the table with a diffuser of some sort. I use an umbrella but there are many types of modifiers.
I would strongly recommend incorporating off camera flash which makes for beautiful soft images.
