I was one of those lone rangers for sure! Doing it all and loving it! I started my business as a solo shooter and continued to do all of my weddings alone. My husband was by my side at every single wedding I booked. He would carry my bags, run the family portrait timelines, set up equipment, assist my bride with many different things while I did all of the shooting!
It was something that I thought was an ideal situation. I worked really really hard because I did it all myself. One day, I needed a shot that I could not get so I handed my husband the camera and said “I don’t care what you have to do, just get that shot”.!! Well, little did I know that he was incredibly talented and had a great eye!
The next thing he knew he was in training to become my second shooter! It took him a good year with lots of practice but he nailed it completely!
So the benefits that I now enjoy are, not working as hard! He captures things that I do not even see. Also men and women think differently so therefore, he sees perspective quite different than I do which really makes a difference in our work! He still runs the timeline, carries the bags and assists our bride, but he also brings so much more to the table!
He can get aerial shots that I can never get because I am always with the couple down below. All in all, I never regret handing the reigns over to him and am very thankful for the help!
