Not every couple gets engagement photos done. Sometimes, if they do, they get them done before they have chosen their wedding photographer which means they use someone else for the engagement photos or use a friend or family member to snap a few photos. I don’t think many couples know that there is a great reason to have an engagement session done with the photographer they choose for their wedding photography. I tell the couples I work with that an engagement session gives both the photographer and the couple a chance to get to know each other in a setting where one is behind the camera and one is in front of it. There can often be a lot of nerves from both the bride and the groom when it comes to being in front of the camera on their wedding day. An engagement session gives your photographer a chance to learn how to help you relax and get to know what works best for you…kind of like a trial run 🙂 you get a chance to chat and get comfortable with each other. The bride and groom can ask questions and see how it feels to be posed and to be front and center. It is really a great investment not only for engagement photos, but as a way to make your wedding day photos the best they can be.
