It is very easy to get overwhelmed when planning a wedding, not only physically but emotionally and financially. Before you know it you are way over budget and not even done with everything you need to do. When you finally decide to spend the rest of your life with the person you love, pick out 3 things that are most important to you to make your day perfect. Is that the venue, food, photographer, DJ, decor, dress, take home gifts, whatever is most important for you, those 3 things you do not skimp on and plan/book way ahead. Spend the most time on those and once they are booked/planned/taken care of, then be OK with everything else not going quite right or exactly how you imagined it will go. Have fun planning your wedding and don’t be afraid to find stuff at the thrift store! It will save you stress on yourself and your pocket book.
It also, very easily, stops being about you and your future partner and starts being about everyone else. What are the guests going to enjoy? What can we give them for a present? What will they think of this dress or those shoes? This can make you end up losing yourself and what you really want out of this day. If you find yourself doing that, let go of what everyone else thinks and come back to what you think and what you want. Throwing a party for, sometimes 100+ people is one tough job, especially with it being the most important day of your life. Don’t be afraid to say no and put yourself first!
