Photography is great to research because it is so visual. You have to find images that you connect with. Are you drawn to the dramatic and cinematic feel of bold photography? Or do you like the bright, soft, romantic look? Or do you like the documentary, moody vibe?
Once you decide on a style interview a few different photographers and choose the one that most fits your personalities and of course the budget needs a bit of review as well.
I like to do an in person or Skype call with my potential wedding client’s because it gives me a feel of how they interact. I can also show them the different albums and products I offer to help them see what their end product will look like. So, don’t be surprised if your photographer is requesting an in person consultation!
This also give you a chance to see and interact with your photographer, don’t be afraid or nervous about meting with them.
Below are a few great questions to ask your photographer:
Why do you love photographing weddings?
What is your craziest wedding story?
If you could give me one piece of wedding advice, what would it be?
How would you describe your style? (Honestly, I HATE this one. The reason is because you saw my photographs and liked what you saw, so why should I come up with a name to my style?)
Do you offer albums and printed products?
How soon after our wedding will we be able to see our photographs?
How will you deliver our photographs?
